Italian production company “Istituto Luce – Cinecittà” entered the production of “Who Against Us?”, a Daring House film about Italian poet Gabriele d’Annunzio.

The film is directed by Stefano Casertano and produced by Ila Palma Cinematografica and Daring House, and enjoys the support of the “Vittoriale degli Italiani” foundation, also associate producer.

“Who Against Us?” tells the story of the occupation of the Dalmatian city of Rijeka by d’Annunzio in 1919-1920. It was the first time in history that a poet would create a state for himself. In his experiment, d’Annunzio anticipated tendencies such as gender rights, free education, experimentation with drugs and sex, open homosexuality – that would resurface only fifty years later with the 1968 movements.

Yet, d’Annunzio also showed a negative record concerning the treatment of Slavic people in the city.

The film is due for festival release in 2020.
