Daring House associate production “The mafia is no longer what it used to be” has been awarded the Special Prize of the Jury at the 76. Venice Film Festival.

The award ceremony has been held on 7. September at the Sala Grande at Venice Lido, and producer Rean Mazzone received the prize in the name of director Franco Maresco.

Daring House would like to thank Rean for leading this project, the festival jury for the consideration (Lucrecia Martel, Piers Handling, Mary Harron, Stacy Martin, Rodrigo Prieto, Tsukamoto Shinya, Paolo Virzì), festival director Alberto Barbera and above all Franco Maresco for being Franco Maresco.

“The mafia is no longer what it used to be” marks the second collaboration between Daring House and Ila Palma Cinematografica by Rean Mazzone. The previous film, “Belluscone” – also by Franco Maresco – had been awarded the Orizzonti Prize also in Venice.

International sales of the film are led by Fandango.
